How to Set Up Your Prahsys Payment Terminal

Step-by-step guide to set up your PAX A77 payment terminal for dental office use. Covers initial charging, Wi-Fi connection, launching QuickPoint, and locking the app for uninterrupted payment processing.

This guide walks you through the initial setup of your PAX A77 payment terminal, from first charge to ready-to-process.


Quick Steps

  1. Plug the terminal into a charger — designate a permanent home base where it charges between uses

  2. Press and hold the power button to turn the device on

  3. Connect to Wi-Fi

  4. Open the QuickPoint app (S logo — the only app on the home screen)

  5. Lock the app by disabling the Navigation Bar in the hidden settings menu


Walkthrough

Step 1: Plug In and Find a Home Base

Connect the terminal to its charger using the included USB-C cable. Choose a permanent location where the device will live and charge between uses — battery life is several hours but not a full day, so it should always return to this spot.

Important Note: Always return the terminal to its charging base after each use. The device must stay plugged in to maintain its connection to payment servers.


Step 2: Power On

Press and hold the power button (top right corner of the device) until the screen lights up.


Step 3: Connect to Wi-Fi

The device settings are locked, but Wi-Fi can be accessed through the Quick Settings panel.

  1. Open Quick Settings — Swipe down from the top of the screen with one finger. Tap the downward chevron (∨) that appears to expand the full Quick Settings panel.

  2. Open Wi-Fi settings — Tap the filled black downward chevron (∨) next to Wi-Fi. This opens the list of available networks.

  3. Select your network — Tap your network name from the list. (You do not need to toggle Wi-Fi on — it activates automatically when this panel opens.)

  4. Enter your password and tap Connect.

  5. Return to home — Tap the circle icon (○) at the bottom of the screen. Do not tap the square icon.

Quick Tip: You do not need to toggle Wi-Fi manually or tap Clear All — just open the panel, select your network, and connect.


Step 4: Open the QuickPoint App

Tap the QuickPoint app on the home screen — it has a letter S logo and is the only app shown. Once opened, you will see the Prahsys logo in the center of the screen, confirming the app is connected.


Step 5: Lock the App

This step locks the device into the QuickPoint app and prevents it from falling asleep and disconnecting from payment servers.

  1. Open the hidden settings menu — At the bottom of the screen, press and hold the Powered by SoftPoint text for about 7 seconds until a settings menu appears.

  2. Disable the Navigation Bar — Find the Navigation Bar setting (toggled on) and toggle it off.

  3. Confirm — When prompted "Navigation bar is showing, would you like to hide the navigation bar?" tap Yes.

  4. Exit settings — Tap the back arrow (←) in the top left corner. Setup is complete.

Important Note: Hiding the navigation bar is what keeps the device locked into the app and prevents it from disconnecting from payment servers. This is also why the terminal should always be plugged in when not in use.


Troubleshooting: Terminal Won't Connect to Wi-Fi

  • Verify your password is correct

  • Make sure you are within range of your router

  • Try restarting the terminal and attempting again

  • Check if other devices can connect to the same network
